Meet Hermione Cordeiro Larkin

Hermione Cordeiro Larkin (she/her) is a PhD student in the Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering interested broadly in computational environmental research.
A near life-long Connecticut resident, Hermione received her bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, MD with a minor in applied mathematics and statistics, where she spent her time outside of classes teaching math and engineering to undergraduates.
Hermione’s teaching and leadership philosophies center on three pillars: pragmatism, persistence, and proactivity. These pillars help her students approach challenges with realistic strategies that allow them to embrace uncertainty and act despite reservations. This helps them develop an appreciation for the learning process itself rather than focusing solely on results.
In the future, Hermione hopes to find herself in a walkable city to continue her academic journey as teaching faculty, where she will continue teaching and mentoring undergraduate students.
